Trump tastes voting fury

THE outcome of the midterm elections has become a nightmare for President Donald Trump after Democrats won control of both chambers of Congress, with voters demonstrating their fury over authoritarian policies, the soaring cost of living, and the unpopular war with Iran.

The outcome of the midterm elections has become a nightmare for President Donald Trump as Democrats won control of both chambers of Congress with voters demonstrating their fury against authoritarian policies leading to soaring cost of living and unpopular war with Iran. In the wake of the historic defeat, Donald Trump has effectively become a lame-duck President for his remaining two years in office, facing an adversarial Congress and a fractured party pointing fingers over the loss. With the Trump era effectively compromised by this midterm drubbing, party strategists are already trying to turn the page toward the 2028 presidential race, looking to a deep bench of alternative leaders like JD Vance, Marco Rubio, and Ted Cruz. The scale of the Republicans’ defeat was writ large on the wall as opinion surveys revealed Trump’s approval rating was at the lowest and results of the election put a seal on such findings. After Democrats scored a series of upset victories in deep-red states like Texas, Kansas and South Carolina, some Republicans focused their ire on Trump, arguing that his focus on his legacy and indifference to voter concerns cost the party control of Congress.

There will apparently be a tug-of-war as Democrats vowed to use their sweeping majority to check President Trump’s power and White House is drawing a governing plan to run affairs of the state without cooperation of a Congress dominated by the rival party. Democrat leaders have signaled they’ll use their new power to ensure Trump’s final two years in office are dominated by a series of investigations of top members of his administration. Impeachment of Trump and his cabinet officials is also not off the table. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth and tech titan Elon Musk, a former top Trump adviser, are among possible targets for investigations. These are internal issues of the United States but most important is whether or not the election results cause a change in policies that triggered an uncalled for war with Iraq and the resultant inflationary trends not only in the United States but all over the world. Voters have delivered their verdict – they are deadly against war-mongering but will Trump listen to the will of his people. The question assumes greater significance as the Vice President has described the Iran war as ‘the reason we lost’ midterms.
