Mohammad Hossein Baqeri; Director of the Iqbal Forum Today, I would like to share three important points with you:

First Point: Temporary peace between the United States and Iran and the role of Pakistan

Iran knows better than Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, or any other country in the region how to gain the friendship and support of the United States and Israel with just a few statements. Not only does Iran know the method, but if you look at the period before the Islamic Republic, during the Shah’s era, this actually happened; Americans and Israelis were fascinated by Iran, and when the Shah visited regional countries, their rulers would bow before him.

Today, Iran could simply say that it is willing to come to terms with Israel and no longer stand in its way, and it could achieve a $28 trillion economy and rank as the sixth-largest economy in the world, with major global powers lining up to enter its market. So be cautious in your judgments. If Iran is facing hardship and war today, it is because it refuses to surrender to the pressure of the United States and Israel and abandon its support for the Palestinian people. Be certain that Israel may one day plan to harm Pakistan as well. I have repeatedly stated that Iran is the last stronghold before the enemy reaches Pakistan; be careful not to weaken this stronghold with your words and writings.

Second Point: Appreciation of Pakistan’s role and Islamabad’s current position

Over the past month, I have repeatedly emphasized that Pakistan’s role as a mediator is highly valuable. We appreciate the government, leadership, and people of Pakistan for this effort. However, remember that Pakistan’s mediation today is not merely because of Trump or the United States. Previously, China, Russia, and Turkey also offered to mediate, but Iran did not accept. If Pakistan’s global standing has risen today and global attention is focused on Islamabad, one key reason is that Iran accepted Pakistan as a mediator. I hope that within the next 48 hours we will witness positive progress and that Pakistan’s efforts will succeed, leading to the resumption of negotiations in Islamabad based on national dignity.

Third Point: Response to those who threaten Iran or try to force it into negotiations

For 40 years, despite sanctions and injustices, Iran has stood alone against the power of the United States and Israel, and yet its level of welfare and infrastructure (such as water, electricity, and gas) remains better than many countries in the region. When you use threatening language against Iran, remember that Indian media quickly translates your messages and broadcasts them in Iran, which can influence public and official perceptions.

As a mediator, you must not step outside your role or allow emotions to override rationality. Iran should not be forced to give up its fundamental rights and national dignity merely to participate in negotiations in Islamabad. Be careful not to align, through your words and writings, with forces that do not want the progress of Islamic countries.
